every once in awhile, it feels like something comes along and shakes the hell out of my world.. then the snow settles and i move on accordingly.
in short. i have a very busy house right now.
i was asked to help my friend kristen by taking care of her pug, kasey. until her mom comes back from vacation at the end of july. some things i didn't know about pugs until now.. 1. they are quite possibly one of the stubbornest dogs on the planet. 2. they are VERY energetic. 3. they can't handle the heat.. that one is fine.. i can't handle the heat either. at least we get along on one of the points. her energy is boundless and i really just can't keep up. the cats are finally adjusting, but i don't think they are big fans. i know for a fact, hassen, the rabbit is not a fan. when i let her out to play, kasey bounded up to her which caused her to scream. have you ever heard a rabbit scream? if you haven't, i'd say you can skip it. it's as awful as it sounds. kasey and hassen don't play together anymore. i have to say though.. i was surprised. if the cats come around and put a paw on her, she takes a swipe at them with her big front feet and growls at them. i expected her to do the same with kasey.
i also have a friend who recently moved. she found out 2 weeks before she was moving that she couldn't take her cat, penny, with her. she called just about every shelter and person she could think of and nobody could take her. and so.. i also agreed to take penny in either permanently or until i knew of somewhere she would fit in well. at this point.. i'd say she's found her new home.
i picked both kasey and penny up in ludlow on the same day.
it also happened to be the same time that my own cat, kumori was pregnant. about 70 or so days ago, zoe chased kumori off the porch.. kumo came home preggo. she ended up going into labor last tuesday at about 5am. by 2:30pm, she had been having contractions about every 2 mins.. loud, painful sounding (which i would yell too.. but not like that) contractions i decided it was time to head to the vet. as it turns out.. she had 4 kittens and one was stuck. in the end.. all of her kittens were lost, but kumo came through and ended up fine. it's sad for sure, but it would have been so much worse if we'd lost her too. now she's back to dancing and meowing on our heads as we try to sleep.
everyone is settling in.. and things are starting to get quiet again. penny is starting to get brave and leave the kitchen to explore.. and the other cats are starting to get used to her.. we'll just say that from now on, there are plenty of critters to cuddle at my house.
more later.. i hope.
